Art Practice

My art practice utilizes ritual and sensory memory to explore intercultural and intergenerational themes.  Through personal narrative and visual expressions of lived experience I apply concepts associated with intersectionality and liminality to explore themes associated with immigrant stories, mixed families, multigenerational relationships rooted in cultural connection or disconnection, the navigation of familial culture and American culture for first generation young people, the third culture concept, and the emotional, physical and psychological impact of isolation and belonging within these contexts.  My work centers on creating meaning in both personal and collective identity through assemblage and mixed media narratives.  It employs materials and processes that involve the senses of sight, sound, touch, taste, smell, and encourages witnessing and engagement through participatory methods.
